A decent product from a well known company. Contains a lot of the ingredients you'd want to see in a combined test booster but some of the key ingredients are under dosed and unfortunately the rest all wrapped in a proprietory blend so we have no idea how much of each ingredient the product contains.

That said - it is REALLY cheap if you shop around and it's from a company with a good reputation.

BSN EvoTest Review

BSN EvoTest is a testosterone boosting supplement from the company BSN, which aims to use a “concentrated testosterone support matrix” to bring you the many benefits of high T.

These include higher energy, increased muscle mass and strength and improved stamina and libido.

This support matrix is a fancy way of saying that most of BSN EvoTest’s hormone boosting potential is wrapped up in a proprietary blend.

BSN EvoTest

This is disappointing because it means we won’t be able to judge each ingredients exact amount, something that can make a huge difference to a brand’s overall quality.

It’s still worth taking a look though to try and learn how BSN Evo Test stands up to the competition in a crowded market.

How Does BSN EvoTest Work?

Before we tackle the proprietary blend, let’s look at the few ingredients which have an individual volume and see if they pack enough of a punch.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a great choice as levels of the sunshine vitamin, so-called because our best source of it is exposure to sunlight, are directly linked to levels of testosterone in our system.

Unfortunately despite BSN EvoTest’s boasts that it contains 100% of the U.S recommended daily allowance, 400IUs, vitamin D only starts to help T levels at around 3000IUs, closer to the Vitamin D Council’s suggested amount of 5000IUs. Not nearly enough here.

Magnesium (as Magnesium Oxide)

60% of the testosterone in our body can be bound up and made useless by something called the Sex Hormone Binding Globulin. Magnesium is a really effective natural option for helping to free that tied up T, helping to get it flowing again and put to the best use improving our performance. 250mg is a good amount too.

Calcium

Calcium does have some merit here because clinical trials have previously shown it has the ability to slightly raise testosterone levels in intensely exercising athletes. It has no effect on those who remain largely at rest however.

Now we come to the 5.6g of X-Shock Composite proprietary blend. This is a big amount so you would hope you’re getting enough of the good stuff, rather than the slightly more questionable choices, but unfortunately hope is all you can do.

D-Aspartic Acid

D-Aspartic Acid is an important amino acid for T. It works on the brain causing the creation of crucial T building blocks like luteinizing hormone, growth hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. It can also remove rate limits on male hormone production in your balls, raising levels further. It’s in a proprietary blend here so we just have to hope we’re getting enough.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek’s most famous quality is as a potent aphrodisiac, but besides proven libido enhancing qualities, it also has the ability to positively influence blood glucose levels which in turn regulates insulin. Since unbalanced amounts of insulin in the system can negatively affect testosterone, it could be argued fenugreek (in the right amount) helps to keep T levels stable.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

Not a T booster exactly, but is able to keep up energy levels and prevent tiredness in the gym.

Suma

Suma is packed with good stuff and much of it directly helps  T. B vitamins, vitamin K2, zinc, magnesium, ecdysteroids, saponins, and steroidal glycosides are all helpful elements which support this ingredient being picked. Suma is packed with nutrients but is BSN EvoTest packed with suma? Impossible to say.

Cordyceps

This ingredient is often attributed with the ability to keep our skin looking youthful and healthy, but the human research for this is fairly rare. It does have the ability to raise T in some cases, but the process by which it does this is so involved and requires such a specific set of conditions, that it is hard to be sure about its effectiveness.

Lactic Acid

This may seem a strange choice as most of us know lactic acid as the painful build up in the body which limits our workouts. However the reason strength training is so good at increasing T is thought to be down to the increased amount of lactic acid that results from this activity. Research has been able to show a fairly solid connection between the two in lab rats at least.

Ginger

There has been research done which shows that giving ginger to lab rats raises both T levels and testicle size but there’s little evidence to suggest ginger is our key to human space hopper sized balls and through the roof testosterone. That said however, one trial did show it provoked a 17% test rise in infertile men.

Ginkgo

Fans of ginkgo claim it improves focus and cognition although clinical support for this is not overwhelming. It does have an effect on nitric oxide levels in the body, leading to better blood flow and in some cases stronger erections.

Linum Usitatissimum

Better known as flaxseed this ingredient has been shown to influence prostate-specific antigen levels when tested with soya.

How Do I Take It?

BSN EvoTest is is available in both capsule and powder form. The powder option requires you to take 2 scoops, 1 in the morning 1 at night; whereas the capsule choice recommends you take 2 capsules twice a day for 3 weeks.

We would strongly suggest the capsule form, not only because it’s less hassle to prepare but because the powder tastes awful. Black cherry is what it says on the container but there is a strong agreement that “it tastes like what you imagine shit would taste like if you ate shit.” That quotes is taken from the review on Amazon.com,

After 3 weeks it is advised that you stop and consider a post-cycle therapy product to let your system recover. This is usually BS from the marketing department – by telling you it needs cycled they are trying to suggest that it is as powerful as steroids. It’s not, no natural test booster is. Don’t be fooled by this.

Side Effects?

This product contains ginger, which is known to cause nausea in some, but buried within a proprietary blend there’s no way of knowing if it’s strong enough here to do so. However there have been some reports of stomach complaints and loose bowels linked to this brand.

Where Can I Get BSN Evo Test?

BSN EvoTest is available from a range of online retailers and is possible to source at an extremely reasonable price. Its starting cost was a frankly ridiculous $67 but most outlets had it reduced to around the $20 mark for 90 capsules.

Conclusion

The Scores

Ingredients (5/10) – There are some strong ingredients in here. D-AA, Fenugreek, vitamin D and magnesium are good picks. Unfortunately it’s only the magnesium we can have any confidence in. We know the vitamin D falls a long way short of getting the job done and as how much DAA or fenugreek there is is anyone’s guess. Other ingredients are mixed in terms of evidence supporting them. No thought appears to have been given to limiting estrogen. We can only give an average score.

Price (8/10) – We still found BSN EvoTest among the cheapest boosters on the market if you shop around enough. If you are on a budget it still might be a good choice.

Testimonials (5/10) – Let’s just forget the powder, it is by apparently horrible. Customers often return it after one taste. Take that out of things though and BSN EvoTest gets solid but not amazing reviews. There is no testimonial section on the website, you have to go on a mix of user reviews with varying degrees detail.

Trustworthiness (7/10) – Putting the problem with proprietary blends to one side, the only slightly odd thing we dug up was about another product by BNS, Cell Mass. It was claimed they falsified the inclusion of an ingredient called creatine ethyl ester malate. Nothing ever came of the complaint and Cell Mass is still available today.

Company (8/10) – Bio-Engineered Supplement & Nutrition are veterans at this game. They started in 2001 with a small shop in Florida and have gone on to become a popular company with global reach. They have a range of supplements besides T boosters which sell well and several well known bodybuilders carry the flag for them. Despite the odd hiccup they state that all their products adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines and we’ve no reason to doubt them.

Overall

BSN EvoTest is a booster with a lot of might, but probably not the might they were hoping for. It might have enough DAA, Fenugreek might have a good enough supply, and ginger might help testosterone levels.

There are a few definitelys in there too; vitamin D is definitely under dosed and even though it’s definitely one of the cheapest testosterone boosters on the market in places and definitely good if you’re on a budget, but there are definitely more complete and better options available.
