This is a good solid product, there's no doubt. A strong formula let down in only a couple of places, no proprietary blend so we know exactly what is in it.

It's not cheap and there are better alternatives in it's price category but if your budget stretches to it and a vegetarian option is absolutely critical then this product should be worth considering.

    • NMDAA underdosed

The idea that vegetarians being more at risk of low T due to their diet has been thoroughly disproved … but that doesn’t mean those of us who forsake the steak don’t deserve a bit of natural help from supplements in the same way as the carnivores.

Most test boosters aren’t vegetarian friendly as (aside from the obvious issue of the ingredients), most products use capsules that contain gelatin.

Core Alpha steps in as a veggie friendly alternative, describing itself as an;

‘ultra-potent natural hormone optimiser, which not only maintains testosterone levels, but also stimulates production and promote muscle growth.’

So we know what to expect when they pick up Core Alpha, but will we be disappointed?

Core Alpha

How Does It Work?

Core Alpha’s refreshing directness extends as far as its all-important ingredients, which aren’t hidden in a completely unnecessary proprietary blend.

We fully analyse the ingredients and the dosages chosen for Core Alpha later in the article. First though … let’s get down to brass tacks, how does it rate?

The Scores

The Scores
Ingredients
8/10

Core Alpha is a really strong booster with just a few little niggles. It has some truly standout ingredients such as D3, zinc and muncuna pruriens. However the NMDAA is badly under dosed, the serving schedule good be better and a few more anti-estrogen componests wouldn’t go a miss. Nevertheless, on balance this one of the stronger ingredient profile’s we’ve seen lately.

Price
7/10

For all its undoubted plus points, £50/$60 is a lot to spend on a supplement regularly and we’re not sure it’s quite impressive enough across the board to warrant such a high price. There are other brands for a similar price which are generally more on point.

Trustworthiness
9/10

Trustworthiness (9/10) – Core Alpha is made in the U.S and is subject to all the good manufacturing practises that come with that, it has a fully dosed ingredient list on the on display and no dangerous components. A few elements are light on clinical evidence, but apart from that, no problem.

Testimonials
7/10

Testimonials were hard to come by for this product, even sites that had it on sale didn’t have a lot in the way of reviews. The few we found were plausibly positive however and there’s enough quality displayed on the label to convince us this isn’t a scam.

Company
9/10

Core Nutritionals is the brain child of husband and wife team, bodybuilder Doug Miller, and pro-figure competitor, Stephanie Miller. They currently have an extensive range of supplements to aid workouts and muscle building in various ways, none of which use proprietary blends as a rule. As a nice added feature the couple themselves are available to offer advice and answer the questions of customers.

How Do I Take Core Alpha?

Core Alpha recommends two capsules a day, 1 before a workout and 1 before bed. On rest days it advises you adjust to 2 before bed. This is one of comparatively few problems we’ve got with it. As a rule, the most popular boosters use a serving schedule of 3 to 4 a day, taken at evenly spaced intervals to keep the active ingredients adequately topped up. Potentially Core Alpha isn’t going to be as effective as it might’ve been.

Any Side Effects?

Allowing for individual allergies, nothing here should give you any trouble.

Where Can I Get Core Alpha?

Core Alpha is available for around the $65 mark at the official Core Nutritionals website, and for £52 from Predator Nutrition in the U.K for a month’s supply

Core Alpha Ingredients – In Detail

vitamin-d3-thumb

Vitamin D3

Called the sunshine vitamin as this testosterone stimulating nutrient is created primarily when rays from the sun interact with our skin, this is a great inclusion. Supplementation is especially important too if you’re in a location or season that is sun starved, to prevent your male hormone taking a nose dive. The 3000mg available here is about the minimum needed to see testosterone rise.

N-Methyl-D-Aspartic Acid

As the name suggests this is a slight variation on premier testosterone boosting amino acid, D-Aspartic Acid. What methylation brings to the table is restoring a missing methyl group thought to be responsible for estrogen’s negative effect on the male body; with that restored, a balance is created which allows testosterone to flourish. The real problem here is with the DAA, or rather lack of it. Studies indicate you’d be hard pushed to find a stronger male hormone enhancer at 2000-3000mg, but just A TENTH of that, there’s no clinical evidence you’ll see benefits. Disappointing, but a lesson in always checking dosage.

mucuna-pruriens-thumb

Muncuna Pruriens Seed Extract

Something of a wonder ingredient in our eyes here. A great source of L-Dopa, the clinically proven testosterone stimulator, not to mention a booster of Human Growth hormone. It also inhibits cortisol, the stress hormone which shuts down healthy male hormone function. So not only helping with higher levels of testosterone but often a noticeably improved mood. A recent study saw testosterone climb by over 27% in subjects.

3-Desoxy, 7-Keto DHEA

This is a naturally occurring hormone often touted for its anti-ageing qualities. While it does have the ability to boost testosterone, it tends to stimulate estrogen just as effectively. The estrogen inhibiting qualities of the previous ingredient may limit this, but with such a small amount it’s unlikely to have enough of an impact.

zinc-thumbnail

Zinc

It’s no accident that a large percentage of guys with clinically low testosterone are deficient in zinc. A difficult mineral to get in adequate quantities from food, it is an essential building block of healthy male hormone output. Triggering the brain to create luteinizing hormone, which has a hand in dictating how much testosterone we produce, it also encourages other useful elements such as human growth hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. 30mg is an effective amount too.

Brassaiopsis glomerulata leaf extract

An attempt to curb estrogen is made here as this Vietnamese leaf is presented as having female hormone supressing qualities. However thus far that has only been demonstrated in one study which was in vitro. Until it’s been tested more extensively we can’t claim it’s a good choice. There are far more clinically sound options for doing this job.

Coleus Forskohlii

A member of the mint family, in clinical trials Coleus Forskohlii has displayed a talent for both boosting testosterone and burning body fat in trials, specifically at the 250mg handily on offer here.

Overall

This is definitely a strong product, despite having a few flaws. There are better out there in this kind of price range, but if you’ve got the budget and you’re looking for a trustworthy vegetarian option, Core Alpha should absolutely be a contender.
