Prime Male Review
The Low Test market is massive. If it’s not patches, gels or intramuscular injections then doctors hand out prescriptions for erectile dysfunction pills like candy.
There are problems with this though.
And it’s not just the massive cost. There’s the inconvenience, the possible side effects and the variability in the effectiveness of these remedies.
Step forward natural test boosters. Sadly most of these target the body builder market, but some specialist boosters have been designed specifically to combat low test in older males.
Prime Male is one of those. Let’s get started…
How Does It Work?
So, how have Propura set out the Prime Male formula? What are the standout ingredients and the points to note?
Ingredients Summary
Generous amounts of great testosterone stimulators like D-Aspartic Acid & vitamin D3
Plenty of strong estrogen suppressants like vitamin B6, luteolin and boron (which also boosts T)
Contains Panax ginseng which promotes better blood flow and nitric oxide in the body to help libido or erectile problems
Includes minerals zinc and magnesium to promote hormone creation and raise free T.
Added nettle root extract also helps your free testosterone
The addition of Mucuna Pruriens not only helps T but lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) which blocks testosterone and negatively effects mood
We fully analyze the ingredients and the dosages chosen for Prime Male later in the article. First though … the scores
For reviewers who like to find the flaws that others miss, Prime Male is frustratingly on point.
Propura, the creators Prime Male, are clearly clued up on what a body over 35 needs to stay at hormonal peak. Estrogen is rising and hurting testosterone, so they include solid natural choices to counter this like vitamin B6 and luteolin. To tip the balance back in the male hormone’s favor there are strong T stimulators like D-Aspartic Acid, nettle root and Mucuna Pruriens.
These are just a few highlights. We’ll take a closer look at the full formula later in the review.
Price
8/10
For all its many plus points, Prime Male is asking more than the average for a booster. As it’s only sold from the official website, there’s no chance to shop around for bargains, which is disappointing.
However the fact that it’s only sold in one place can be a positive – you are not going to end up with knock off counterfeit product.
It’s worth remembering too that price and value are two different things. Yes, it’s costly, but you are paying for quality here. If you can budget for Prime Male, it’s definitely a good investment.
Trustworthiness
10/10
All their products are manufactured in an FDA approved facility in line with Good Manufacturing Practices for supplements. The product is made in the US (but shipped from both the US and UK).
The research and reasoning behind the formula can all be explained by established research. There are no proprietary blends so you know exactly what you are getting.
Testimonials
10/10
Lots of boosters just let user feedback on sites like Amazon or Bodybuilding.com do the talking, but those reviews often lack detail.
Prime Male’s testimonial section is the ‘Ben-Hur’ of test booster testimonial pages. A cast of thousands, and years in the making. A stirring epic, that literally takes hours from start to finish, but leaves a warm glow in the heart and a tear in the eye at the end.
There are videos, photographs and written pieces from guys all around the world. Crucially all of them are in their 30s, 40s, 50s and older. These guys, in many cases were having the same physical and emotional slumps you might be feeling, so it’s great to see real guys get real results. These lads aren’t just cardboard cutouts for marketing purposes.
Interesting to read reviews from men who had side effects with Testosterone Replacement Therapy but positive results with Prime Male. There is a stand-out testimonial from a guy who’s bloodwork saw a major boost in his test following a month of Prime Male.
Former American Footballers Andre Reed & Scott Zolak even throw their weight behind Prime Male. And Dolph Lundgren too. I’m not crazy about celebrity endorsements usually, but sports people are a different caliber. This isn’t the Kardashians we’re talking about here. These guys won’t just pose and pout in front of anything if the price is right. And Dolph used to be a chemical engineer, he’s not just a highly chiseled Scandinavian face.
These guys understand what it’s like to reach their physical peak and pride themselves on staying there. It’s unlikely they’d risk their reputations on a questionable product.
We’ve pulled some of our favorites from the testimonials page for you;

“My testosterone levels were low, very low at 200. Before using Prime Male, I had tried all of the low testosterone medical products which include, injections, gels and patches. Those products had major side effects.
I have been using this amazing product for about three months. I am very proud to say that I feel great. I now have the energy, libido and focus level that I was lacking. My last blood work showed that my testosterone levels have now risen to 476 which is technically in the normal range.”
Jordan, Canada
“I started taking ” Prime Male” Because at 54 years old I was feeling the effects of aging and wanted to get back into shape but didnt seem to have the energy to train. And since I was feeling tired I wasnt feeling very motivated, until I started taking ” Prime Male”.
After a few weeks of taking it I stared to notice the difference. I even stopped for a week to really see if it was the ” Prime Male ” or if it was in my head. To my pleasant surprise it was the Prime Male.”
Jerry, USA
“I feel like a ‘Rooster’ that had almost forgotten he was a rooster, then one day he awoke with the sunrise and began to ‘crow’. Yes, Prime Male has given me back my crow, strut, and cockiness.
Whenever I am out and about young and older women even a few “cougars” flirt and often make me offers. I keep my grey beard so the younger guys won’t consider me a threat, but will see me as inspiration to them to get it together.”
Steve, USA
“Goal was to find a natural alternative to enhance my natural testosterone levels while coming off synthetic testosterone without using the traditional PCT (post cycle therapy) like clomid, Tamoxifen , Arimidex and HCG.
I have been using synthetic testosterone injections for several years and wanted my nature back. My blood test levels pre Prime male were 210. Post 30 days Prime Male 475. This is perfect and where I want to be feeling good in all areas of my life. Product seems to be working well and doing what it says. Will purchase again.”
Company
10/10
We found no problems with Propura. They demonstrate a deep understanding of the male body which is detailed in-depth on their website. Propura are also the kind of company willing to monitor the latest research. They aren’t too proud (or too cheap) to alter their recipe if it means better results. That’s too rare in this industry.
How Do I Take Prime Male?
Users are directed to take 4 servings of 1 capsules daily. This is ideal in striking a balance between ease of use and effectiveness. You can have best booster in the world but if you’re only taking it once or twice, no way it’ll keep T firing all day.
Called the sunshine vitamin as it’s made when sunlight hits our skin, high levels of D3 cause a boost in testosterone. This is why our beards grow faster in summer than in winter. D3 also helps your immune system and the uptake of calcium, for strong bones. Pime Male makes room for the level of D3 (5000IUs) recently settled on by The Vitamin D Council as the advised daily dose. Well above the 3300UIs seen to get T moving.
D-AA is the amino acid which signals your brain encouraging a bigger supply of vital things like luteinizing hormone – which is crucial to the regulation of the testes. Other important factors for T that D-AA promotes are growth hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone.
Evidence also suggests that D-AA may remove rate limits in T synthesis in the balls, giving us higher levels to use. D-AA is a favourite with body builders, so Prime Male’s levels are less than in a product aimed at muscle builders.
Not everybody realizes that the amount of testosterone in our system isn’t necessarily the amount we’re using. Up to 60% of the hormone can be bound to the protein, sex hormone binding globulin (or SHBG) and unable to be used in the most direct way.
Magnesium helps is to lower our SHGB count freeing up more T and allowing our systems to use it.
B6 is s great choice for a couple of reasons. It triggers androgen receptors, which signals to the balls to start making more T, but also control levels of estrogen in the body. As I mentioned if this is too high T can start to struggle.
B6 does a similar job lowering the hormone prolactin, which is often high in men with low T. If you’re suffering from the dreaded, ‘man boob’ you likely have too much prolactin.
When Prime Male was updated in early 2015 the B6 content was increased 10 fold, which speaks volumes.
Zinc is not something we guys can afford to skimp on. It helps to raise our testosterone by having the brain release crucial things for T production, such as luteinizing hormone. Not only that though, it’s also vital for our overall health. The male prostate requires ten times more zinc than other cells in the body to work properly, for example, so it’s really important.
Ginseng has a long history of use in traditional medicine and has made the jump to modern use. Nitric oxide means better blood flow and therefore better erections. Ginseng also has a positively balances blood sugars however, which controls insulin. T levels can be suffer if insulin gets out of balance, so addressing that is welcome
K2 is found in meats and is important for plasma levels in the body and our testes supply of T. It also acts as a support to D3, allowing it to work more effectively by stopping calcification in the arteries and soft tissue.
This was another choice to be topped up when the recipe was perfected, it’s content doubling.
One of the strongest anti-estrogen ingredients in the natural world. Remember, T & E have a seesaw relationship, so if one is up the other is down.
Luteolin was compared against over 1400 other natural compounds and was found to be the best at reducing female hormone. Estrogen levels start to rise as we age so for Prime Male’s customers this is smart.
Boron is tough to get in the right amounts from your diet. This is a real shame as it’s a mineral with the ability to both raise T and lower estrogen. One study showed that 6mg of boron daily for 2 months saw free testosterone rise 29.5mg.
Studies suggest Mucuna Pruriens boost our production of free testosterone. Not only that though, they are a great source of the amino acid levodopa (L-DOPA) which promotes T and human growth hormone. This bean can also reduce cortisol, the stress hormone which blocks our testosterone. Less stress means higher T and better mood. Sign me up for that.
Nettle root is another great choice. Remember earlier we spoke about lowering the SHBG to free up more T?
Nettle root has been shown in studies to limit the SHGB, but also has beta-sitosterol which reduces estrogen. It also saw a 15% increase when the recipe was updated.
Black pepper by any other name is just as…peppery? BioPerine is just black pepper to help the body absorb the good stuff.
Overall
The over 30s booster market might be a crowded one, but in our opinion Prime Male tops them all. The formula, which is the most important part of any supplement, is second to none. There’s something in there to counteract every unwanted hormone changes as we age.
We’re making Prime Male our gold medal winning test booster, no question. This is currently your best bet for naturally restoring peak T with and all the benefits that brings.
We’ll keep an eye out for challengers, as always, but this effort will take some beating.

I have been using this amazing product for about three months. I am very proud to say that I feel great. I now have the energy, libido and focus level that I was lacking. My last blood work showed that my testosterone levels have now risen to 476 which is technically in the normal range.
I have been on testosterone shots for a couple years now, but decided to try Prime Male. I have not been disappointed.
I have tried Androgel, Testim, patches, creams and testosterone. None of them have really helped me, but I have had side effects with each of them. I have had no side effects with Prime Male.
This product is exactly as it advertised, which is unusual in the supplement world.
My wife has commented several times on how I seem less stressed and she isn't complaining about the increased libido either. Also at the 30 day mark was my latest diabetic check-up - A1C 6.2 at a solid 170!
I can say that I feel effects of PrimeMale more than any other product I’ve tried, and it's not a placebo effect since I have had a month off after my first use and really notice the difference so now I am on my second purchase of PrimeMale and will continue to use it.

The 90 day money back is a joke. It is highly restricted only those who buy and use a 90 day supply. Buy less and you have no warranty. What a deception! Plus, you have to keep trach of diet and exercise. Their refund policy is BAD BAD BAD! Don’t be fooled like I was. I just have to get the word out.
I can see why you might be angry about the guarantee, I personally don’t think it’s been made very clear at all. However I’m not convinced it’s deliberately deceptive – just not nearly clear enough. Here’s what it says;
To order PrimeMale on our 90-day use guarantee, click the button below now. If you don’t see any results after using it for 90 days, simply return the items back to us for a refund. That way, you risk nothing.
So based on that you’ve got to use it for 90 days. That’s pretty obvious and clear I think – and that means buying at least 3 months supply of it. And when they say ‘simply return the items back to us for a refund’, that means the empty boxes.
That isn’t clear imo. Why would they want the empty boxes? Well you only have to look on ebay to find folk selling supplements, if they didn’t want the boxes back then people could just order it, sell in on ebay and then claim it didn’t work and they want their money back.
Check these out, I just grabbed them quickly from other products as random examples;
The ‘guarantee’ on these supplement deals are always the same. You won’t get your shipping cost back and you have to send back the empty bottles. On the diet and exercise, my understanding is that you just have to explain that you did indeed exercise and eat properly. Again that’s pretty much industry standard. If you sat on the couch eating chips for 3 months it’s not very likely you’re going to feel like Conan the Barbarian at then end of it no matter what booster you took. Here’s the ts and cs page;
It might be too late for yourself, but if I was going to give everybody else advice on buying ANYTHING on the internet (not just supplements) it would be to read the info if a warranty or guarantee is important to you. The devil is in the detail. In this case there isn’t even that much detail to go through, and there’s no devil either.
It’s not like there’s a 48 pages of legal jargon that you’d get signing up to a gigantic new iTunes agreement for example. Nobody is ever going to read those and they know it.
The Prime Male detail is only four short sentences long in the terms and conditions and these couldn’t really be clearer (although they really should link to them from that guarantee section, the detail is FAR too hard to find in my opinion);
It says;
Before requesting a refund, you must have:
– Taken PrimeMale™ for a full 90 days as instructed by the packaging.
– Exercised regularly, for at least 30 minutes per day, five times per week.
– Eaten a consistently healthy diet with correct ratio of macronutrients (proteins/fats/carbohydrates).
“Studies suggest”, “one study reveals”, “studies indicate” – vague and possibly misleading statements. Is a study with only 10 testees (not an intentional pun} a valid study? What were the parameters of the studies? Double blind? performed my the manufacturer? Multi-site?
Somewhere on the web sites, especially on the Primemale site, there should list a bibliography of those studies used in the product promotion. For me it would lend an added measure of authenticity and validity to these claims.
Just an update on this – we’ve now added in the studies that we’ve based the Prime Male review on in relation to the ingredients. Links throughout the article and a summary at the end. Thanks again.
You say their are ton of testimonials but Prime Male are giving away free boxes for doing testimonials so of course guys are going to say these good things.
Are you saying that the testimonials aren’t valuable because the guys who did them got rewarded with free boxes? That doesn’t make any sense, if they didn’t think it worked then why on earth would they want free boxes of it?
The Prime Male testimonials are fascinating I think. They are quite obviously genuine and there are hundreds of them. An army of guys who reckon this product has changed their lives.
Reviews across the web have largely been positive, with the majority of reviewers reporting benefits such as increased energy, better focus, improved strength, and more stamina in bed. The negative reviews mostly centered around shipping times and delivery. However I had no problem with that.
I tried your product in the past 90 days. I’m amazed at this stuff. Without exercising my muscles got bigger, I felt better and my sex life was great! I can imagine how I would look with a regular exercise regimen. By the way I’m 56
I have tried several different Test Boosters and Prime Male is the ONLY one I have seen results from. Although it’s on the high end of the price scale, it’s worth it to me.
I have two questions though…..is it recommended to take an Estrogen blocker with Prime Male? Also, many other Test Boosters recommend taking them in cycles, such as 4 to 6 weeks on and two weeks off. Is it recommended to do this with Prime Male?
Thanks for the comment, that’s great that Prime Male has worked out for you so well. Just out of interest, what other ones did you try that weren’t quite as successful? Always interested to find out that kind of thing, it’s quite hard info to come by.
These are two very good questions you’ve asked.
Cycling. There should be no need to cycle a natural testosterone booster like Prime Male. The ingredients are designed to help your body produce it’s own testosterone more effectively, not replace it as you’d get with TRT, steroids or prohormones. You do see natural boosters recommending you cycle them (it is mainly in the muscle building market) and as far as we are concerned it is just a massive marketing gimmick. They want potential customers to believe that their product is SO strong that they are virtually steroids and need to be cycled. It’s complete rubbish. You could ask the Prime Male support what their take on this is but I’m sure they will say much the same thing as I am.
Estrogen – no you don’t need a full blown estrogen suppressant either for a natural test booster. We do look at estrogen suppressing ingredients when we review products (Prime Male has Luteolin for example), but it’s more as a bonus or ‘nice to have’. They are not really a deal breaker. These natural ingredients are just not strong enough to cause the same kind of anti-estrogen effects you’d see from the products guys on steroid cycles take to combat it. That’s a good thing though!
Small, safe, cumulative effects on the body rather than the sledgehammer of the more serious illegal stuff (or the more serious TRT stuff).
I hope so too Gary! Let us know how it goes and if it works out for you. Just out of interest, why did you choose Prime Male as a muscle building test booster? Is it because of your age (no offence, I am 40 and therefore in the Prime Male target market!) or the formula?
Am getting no results with anything else am 6foot 4 and 12 stone so hopefully I get more done in gym and more muscle gain, am trying to reach 13 stone and better
Ah I see. I’m a big fan of Prime Male, I’ve used it myself a couple of times (as has my dad who is 70 in March! – he loves it). It might be marketed at the ‘low test’ market but as you know, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a muscle builder. In truth that’s just the marketing, the formula itself is excellent and should help you with your goals.
Let us know if you make your weight. Stick at it too! Best of luck Gary,
Hi Rob..
Thanks for the overall great write up it helped me out..
This is the short end of my story…
I want a test booster and SHGB killer.
I don’t do weights for a while now.
I simply can not recover anymore.
My free T is low because of 2 reasons , I have low total T and more importantly high 82 nmoL SHBG which kills bioavailability even more. The Australian medical profession doesn’t believe low T is really an issue with health”’go figue..we are so backwards here..
I have had many symptoms for over a decade and it destroying my will and life.
Anyway if this potion works then I will be happy paying for it.
Thank you
Hi Geoff,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I was offline all weekend. I saw your other comment on the Boron article, if you’ve definitively established that SHBG is the problem (and it sounds like you have from the bloodwork on your SHBG and Free Test levels) then Prime Male really has to be one of the best options for a natural test booster. You’ve got Magnesium, Nettle Root, Boron and Vitamin D3 in there in proper dosages. All four are well established ingredients for optimising free T by reducing SHBG.
Good handle – wish I could describe myself as a ‘ripped God’!
Yes, the short answer is that I do recommend Prime Male. It’s a great product, it might be aimed at the low T market but you only have to read through some of the testimonials to see that it’s helped loads of those guys build muscle. If you try it remember to let us know how you got on here – it’s always interesting to hear personal comparisons between one product and another. So P6 Extreme vs Prime Male, you can decide the winner.
Okay I have been doing alot of research and I cannot make my decision between Testofuel and Prime Male. I am 32 and hit the gym 5 times a week for about two hours each time. I am looking to build muscle and raise testosterone. I have been checked twice and the docs said my T levels are a little on the low side. Ive done my research and from everything I have read it seems that if your looking to bulk up quick Testofuel is recommended and if you are above 30 with low T you should use Prime Male. But it seems Prime male is focused more at the Low T market and I am looking for something that raises natural testosterone and gives significant muscle gains in the gym. I just cant make up my mind between the two. Please help. Any suggestions or opinions would be welcome.
Thanks for the question. Short answer – they both will work well. I’ve taken both in the past and there are quite a lot of similarities in the formula. There is extra DAA and Magnesium in TestoFuel, coupled with the Zinc/Oyster Extract – typically nutrients/minerals taken by lifters as you’ll know. Note though, that Prime Male would probably point out that they use the more expensive and harder to get Calcium Chelate version of DAA which is more readily absorbed and therefore you need less (so they’d say they have equivalent DAA).
And the boron in Prime Male is an old school body building supplement (for releasing free T via SHBG inhibition). TF doesn’t have Nettle Root which is also known for inhibiting SHBG. TF has Fenugreek and PM doesn’t. Try both, you are a lot younger than me, I’m 41 and I think 32 is a young guy! If you look at the testimonials on Prime Male there are loads of younger guys who lift. Either way, let us know what you go for!
Hello, i’m researching T Boosters for my husband who is 67 (i am 55) and he is not a bodybuilder and has many health issues, one i certainly imagine, is low T. Anyway, i’d like to help him in any way i can.
Honestly, Prime Male is out of our price range and it seems like TestoFuel is only a couple bucks cheaper??
I’m thinking about just biting the (budget) bullet and springing for either Prime Male or TestoFuel (maybe you can help me with which one)…. i am wondering if 3 capsules a day would be enough, in your opinion?
I’m not really interested in spending on a budget T booster if it’s really not going to do the trick, funds notwithstanding, if this makes sense!
It’s a tough one. Good on you for wanting to help at all, it’s a lot more than a lot of wives would do. You are right, there is very little difference between TestoFuel and Prime Male in price. They are both premium products, and at the higher end of the price range. Not the highest by any means but certainly above average. The other way to look at it is that the cost of all natural boosters pale in comparison to the alternatives ($70 or so sounds a lot, but relative to TRT it is negligible).
Rather than go out and bust your budget (and give him health problems with stress!), or try and reduce the dosage of TF or PM, I’d be tempted to try him out on a cheaper product and see if it has any effect at all. You’re not even sure he has low t after all. If there’s any benefit you could look at getting one of the better (and more expensive) products then?
Hope that is useful advice, good luck with it, and good on you too.
Being impulsive, i went ahead and did order, i figure he is worth it and if it doesn’t work, then we’ll figure something else out. I’m pretty darn sure he has low T (with all the symptoms he has) i just want him to feel better and more alive at 67!
Thanks for the question Willis. Two ingredients in Prime Male pop out as being useful for Prolactin.
Vitamin B6
Two good studies demonstrated that vitamin B6 is effective at reducing PRL. Ok, in both cases the dosages involved were larger than you’d get from the dosages present in PM, but the studies did demonstrate that it affects prolactin in a positive way;
1. Vitamin B6 Study 1
Delitala, G et al. Effect of pyridoxine on human hypophyseal trophic hormone release: a possible stimulation of hypothalamic dopaminergic pathway. The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. 2009; 42(3)
Moretti, C et al. Pyridoxine (B6) Suppresses The Rise In Prolactin And Increases The Rise In Growth Hormone Induced By Exercise. N Engl J Med. 1982; 307(7): 444-5.
A study showing that zinc supplementation also reduced PRL in both men and women. In this case the dosage is more in line with the dosage you’d get with PM, you wouldn’t really want to supplement zinc at 50mg for any length of time as in conjunction with the zinc you got in food it’d take you over the upper limits of normal tolerance levels. The Prime Male dosage is just right.
1. Zinc Study 1
Brandão, NJ et al. Zinc: an inhibitor of prolactin (PRL) secretion in humans. Horm Metab Res. 1989; 21(4): 203-6
Hi, you are saying you’ve had problems ordering on the site? Hmmm, it might be to do with your bank – you could try a different card or use the Paypal Express checkout, that’s what I would do.
I’ve put the fact there is no phone number in the ‘Negative’ section at the top of the review, I know some people like to call. They handle everything via an email ticket system. I’d say the same here as for any of the boosters we review. If you are having trouble ordering just email their customer support and they should be able to help you. All the supplement companies will help you place an order 😉
I am going to try Prime Male today. According to my email, the shipment is “Out for Delivery”. I am hoping that I do get the extra boost since I want to get back in my work out regimen. Currently, I easily get tired and just want to go to bed when I get home. Retired from the military after 26 years of service and now I am 52 years old … sex … yah, that has definitely slowed down … I need to gain energy, lose weight, feel sexier 🙂 and be motivated … hopefully Prime Male can help me get there.
Good man Joe, looking back at my emails “Out for Delivery” basically means it’s about to be delivered so you should be rocking and rolling in no time (if you aren’t already).
Best luck with it, you’ve been in the military for 26 years so I’ve no doubt you’ll have the discipline and self-motivation to stick to your program and make it work for you. Good luck sir, let us know how you go.
I reckon they don’t say because it would differ form person to person. And to an extent it’d depend on whether you were already deficient in any of the vitamins or minerals in the product. Some guys (myself included when I first tried it) feel amazing after literally only a few days. I reckon in my case I was probably Vitamin D deficient. Other guys take longer, they do say you should take it for at least a month so I wouldn’t expect much before then but treat any quick improvements as a bonus.
Hello,
Do you guys have any info or feedback if Prime Male is hard on the stomach? Is this the reason why it should be taken with food?
Thank you,
Stan
Sorry Stan, totally missed this comment when you posted it.
My understanding is that they’ve put that on the bottle because nutrients in general get absorbed better by the body when taken along with food. One vitamin that is better absorbed on an empty stomach is B12 but there isn’t any of that in Prime Male. Hit up their customer service and see what the official reply is though!
We don’t ship anything, it’s Prime Male customer services you want to speak to! 🙂
Normally countries end up on the blacklist because they’ve sent a load of shipments out there and they’ve not arrived. Have you noticed lots of muscly postman in South Africa with lots of energy and happy looking wives? Heheh.
Get it shipped to a friend in Lesotho, that’s my advice 😉
I’ll be honest, that’s what I do, I often take them in 2 doses of 2 and I know another guy in the office does that too. Prime Male tell you to take it with food as most of the ingredients are fat soluble so the idea is that your body absorbs the ingredients more efficiently when you take it with food. And you are meant to take four a day to spread the intake out.
So officially you should always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. But honestly – I still feel the benefit by taking 2*2 although it’s impossible to say if I’d feel even more of a benefit if I took it as recommended. If was you I’d double it up twice a day with food rather than 4 times a day without food but that’s just my personal opinion.
What do you mean – where they’ve got the D3 from? I’d say the same for you as I’d say for anyone, if you want to see proof that ingredients have been properly sourced by an accredited cGMP manufacturer then email Prime Male customer services. And if you email some other company and they won’t prove that then you know what to do!
You’ve not said which Hydroxycut product you mean, there’s a range of them. The general rule of thumb when taking more than one supplement at a time is to check the ingredients and make sure there’s no overlap. So two perfectly reasonable doses in two products turns into an overdose when you are taking them both at the same time. That’s why manufacturers of test boosters often suggest you don’t combine their product with another test booster.
In general though, a fat burner and a test booster will work well together. Check the ingredients first though before you buy!
If you want to try Prime Male and do not want to pay the $69/month, all you have to do is purchase each individual ingredient in the amount listed on their label at a discount Vitamin company like VitaCost. I worked it out to be around $45 a month. The downside is you have to take a lot more pills. That being said, I have been tested with low free T and a high SHBG. I am going to buy Prime Male anyway, try for 3 months. Get blood test again. If it works, I’ll try the above method to reduce costs. Cheers.
Thanks for this – it’s interesting to know how much a ‘Build it yourself’ option is. I’m actually surprised the saving is as little as that, it’s hardly worth it. For a lot of hassle and like you say – you’d be guzzling pills like they were going out of fashion. Plus you’ve have to look at the provenance of all the individual ingredients too I suppose if you wanted to be sure they were all cGMP manufactured. Remember if you buy the 3 box bundle you get a free box (unless you are in Canada), so it works out at $51.75 per box overall.
Let us know how you go with the Prime Male and your test/SHBG levels.
Today I have ordered Prime Male (3 boxes). I am 35 years old, do light work out 5 days a week and normally avoid junk foods. My two biggest concerns are I can not grow full beard (it’s very patchy) and also not able to get lean muscles.
After doing many research, I thought of giving Prime Male a try to naturally boost my T level – which may fill my patchy beard and also help to build lean muscle. Let me know if this product can help me achieve these.
I have ordered Prime Male to build lean muscles and fill my patchy beard. I work out 5 days a week and normally avoid junk foods, I also have very patchy beard. I read testosterone is the prime factor which helps to build up muscles and and also grow facial hair. I am 35 and my T level is little low. Hope Prime Male will help me. Please let me know your opinion
Sorry for the lack of reply yesterday, Xmas family stuff going on! First of all – build lean muscle is a definite yes. The product lists a load of ancillary benefits but the main one most guys are looking for, in conjunction with energy and libido, is muscle building. So if you are working out, have low test and are taking Prime Male then I would personally expect good results from your work in the gym.
The beard growth thing is less of a certainty. Propura themselves have definitely not listed it as a main benefit of enhanced testosterone, here’s the feature list for Prime Male and it is pretty wide ranging. Note … no mention of beards at all;
Build lean muscle — get stronger faster
Become a stud not a dud — shift your libido into high gear
Shed excess weight — especially belly fat
Achieve optimal cardiovascular health — control your blood pressure
Avoid insulin resistance — regulate your blood sugar
Overcome fatigue — increase your energy
Improve mood — gain new confidence
Sharpen your mind — enhance cognitive function
There’s not a single mention of improved beard growth in the massive testimonial page either. We did an article recently on beards and testosterone here. And there’s a good in-depth article on it in the TestoFuel blog here.
So, what’s my conclusion? I’m going to gamble that your beard growth improves after taking PM for 3 months. But only slightly, it ain’t going to go from patchy to Grizzly Adams in 3 months. However … with the extra energy, vitality, physique and general feel good factor you are likely to end up with, I also bet you care less about your beard at the end of it too 😉
Come back and update us on on how you went, I am interested to know!
Thanks Rob for your detailed explanation. Today I received PM and started taking it. I will update my results periodically. Testo Fuel blog I already read before putting my comments here 😀 and almost certain to buy it. After few more research, changed my mind and ordered PM and the primary reason being the age factor (I’m 35).
As per the top reviews of PM, chose it over Testo Max. If testo fuel and testo max can help beard growth, I guess PM also can boost beard growth – it’s my assumption though…Also DHT and T are interlinked. I will keep posted my result. Happy New Year in advance 🙂
Hi,
Nice read and very informative.
I had a couple of questions about this product.
1- I am 32yo, can i use this as I’m just after a good T-booster or do I have to be 35 and over and have low T levels?
2- This product advisertises tha it helps shed excess weight, especially belly fat. Does this mean I dont need to take fat burners when taking these as they help burn fat?
No, you don’t have to be 35 or over for Prime Male at all. The ingredients will work on anybody with low t. That means women as well, the 35+ thing is more about the marketing than the formula imo 🙂
Second question: Fat loss. They’ve advertised that because if you have low T and then increase your T to healthy levels it will make it easier to lose fat. A couple of reasons;
Nutrient partitioning : You build muscle, those muscles need fed, more of the energy from your food intake gets diverted to the muscle.
Testosterone can reduce the uptake of glucose, and reduce energy absorption and energy conversion in fat cells.
Good question – short answer … there is nothing to worry about in relation to a drugs test and Prime Male. That goes for military, work, sports. It contains amino acids, plant extracts, vitamins and minerals. No banned substances, everything that’s in the bottle is on the label, there’s nothing hidden.
I had to double check their FAQs to see if they had covered it – looks like they missed it out. They should cover it, I know the armed forces is a massive market for test boosters. Particularly the US armed forces (I see from your IP you are in the US). Some other countries, like the UK Ministry of Defence, force companies to pay to get listed on a list of approved suppliers to the forces. However, it means if you change the formula at all you have to pay to be relisted – so most don’t bother.
If you look in the checkout you’ll see they cover the APO regions, just in case you don’t know – if you are ordering to where you are deployed choose the APO address and get it via USPS rather than put in the address of your base. Cheaper and more likely to actually get there.
Also take a look at the Testimonials page, there’s a guy who was out in Afghanistan when he did his testimonial. Kenneth, have a look here. Lol, if you read it he admits that he’s not really had a chance to try out the libido enhancing aspects of PM whilst deployed.
Hi Rob.
I have started Intermitent Fasting.
During fast period no calories are allowed,
Are there any in Prime Male pills , and do you think taking 2 without food is ok.
Also , is it ok to take along with VIG RX and a fat burner ?
Thanks for the comment, and sorry for the delay in replying – I took a few days off.
I didn’t actually know the answer to this, so I just asked Prime Male support. They told me it has 5 calories per serving, so not zero calories – I don’t know if that breaks the rules of your fast? I know that taking it without food is OK as I do it all the time with no ill effects – it doesn’t cause stomach upsets or anything, the reason they suggest taking it with food is that the fat soluble nutrients in it are better absorbed by the body.
VigRX – Hmm, there’s not too much overlap in terms of ingredients (Bioperine and Panax Ginseng aside). However you can have side effects when taking too much Panax Ginseng and we never recommend taking two boosters at once.
Hi Rob. I am 36 and do light workouts 3-5 times a week. Not looking to build a ton of muscle, just stay in shape, but man I’m always tired and sleep poorly. Im also fairly slim but feel some jiggle around the midsection when I run. Will this help you think?
Thanks for the comment. Yes, overall I think this supplement could help – assuming the cause of the tiredness could be the result of low testosterone, or vitamin deficiency. And either could be the case, your age would suggest low test is less likely but often when people take a supplement like Prime Male, they get instantly positive effects from it (by which I mean days rather than weeks or months).
And that’s normally because they are deficient in one of the vitamins or minerals that it cntains. Plus, you find when guys order a product like this they use it as a springboard to change their diet a bit, cut down on the drink a bit … and then they start to feel better and get into a positive feedback loop. Before long they are kicking ass and writing testimonials.
Lots of people use ZMA for sleep, and if you look at the ingredients Prime Male has the same levels of ZMA as a dedicated ZMA product. Zinc, Magnesium and B6. If you are comparing quantities there remember PM contains the Citrate variant rather than Sulphate or Aspartate. It’s much more bioavailable meaning your body absorbs much more of it and you need a lower amount for the same effect. So you wouldn’t need any more Magnesium, Zinc or B6 than it contains. Here’s a good article on bodybuilding.com about ZMA;
Hi I take prime male for almost a year and been wondering t combine with tongkat ali, which tongkat ali product do you recommend to combine? Is it ok to do it? Thanks in advance
i am not really wanting this for muscle gain ..mainly just to increase low test due to various medical history..
will this increase beard thickness and give me more body hair?
You are not alone, muscle gain is one of the aspects of increased testosterone but from what I see from the Prime Male testimonials section, muscle isn’t the number one motivator for purchasing.
We did an article on beard growth and testosterone a while back – https://testosteroneresource.com/articles/why-some-men-cant-grow-beards/. Yes, testosterone is one aspect, there are a few other lifestyle changes you can make to improve your chances of follicular success but there’s no guarantee.
Put it this way, anyway saying ‘Yes take Prime Male and you will suddenly be looking like Santa Claus in 6 weeks time’ is full of BS. It could help – but saying that, if you have low test there will be a ton of other health benefits from taking a supplement that brings those back to normal levels. Including generally feeling a lot better and caring a lot less about your lack of beard.

Rob Wright says:
I can see why you might be angry about the guarantee, I personally don’t think it’s been made very clear at all. However I’m not convinced it’s deliberately deceptive – just not nearly clear enough. Here’s what it says;
Check these out, I just grabbed them quickly from other products as random examples;
https://testogen.com/en/guarantee/
https://www.testboost.com/checkout
The ‘guarantee’ on these supplement deals are always the same. You won’t get your shipping cost back and you have to send back the empty bottles. On the diet and exercise, my understanding is that you just have to explain that you did indeed exercise and eat properly. Again that’s pretty much industry standard. If you sat on the couch eating chips for 3 months it’s not very likely you’re going to feel like Conan the Barbarian at then end of it no matter what booster you took. Here’s the ts and cs page;
https://www.primemale.com/uk/terms-and-conditions/
It might be too late for yourself, but if I was going to give everybody else advice on buying ANYTHING on the internet (not just supplements) it would be to read the info if a warranty or guarantee is important to you. The devil is in the detail. In this case there isn’t even that much detail to go through, and there’s no devil either.
It’s not like there’s a 48 pages of legal jargon that you’d get signing up to a gigantic new iTunes agreement for example. Nobody is ever going to read those and they know it.
The Prime Male detail is only four short sentences long in the terms and conditions and these couldn’t really be clearer (although they really should link to them from that guarantee section, the detail is FAR too hard to find in my opinion);
It says;
Stephen M Ross says:
“Studies suggest”, “one study reveals”, “studies indicate” – vague and possibly misleading statements. Is a study with only 10 testees (not an intentional pun} a valid study? What were the parameters of the studies? Double blind? performed my the manufacturer? Multi-site?
Somewhere on the web sites, especially on the Primemale site, there should list a bibliography of those studies used in the product promotion. For me it would lend an added measure of authenticity and validity to these claims.
Rob Wright says:
Just an update on this – we’ve now added in the studies that we’ve based the Prime Male review on in relation to the ingredients. Links throughout the article and a summary at the end. Thanks again.
Charles says:
You say their are ton of testimonials but Prime Male are giving away free boxes for doing testimonials so of course guys are going to say these good things.
Rob Wright says:
Are you saying that the testimonials aren’t valuable because the guys who did them got rewarded with free boxes? That doesn’t make any sense, if they didn’t think it worked then why on earth would they want free boxes of it?
The Prime Male testimonials are fascinating I think. They are quite obviously genuine and there are hundreds of them. An army of guys who reckon this product has changed their lives.
Weldon Insalaco says:
Reviews across the web have largely been positive, with the majority of reviewers reporting benefits such as increased energy, better focus, improved strength, and more stamina in bed. The negative reviews mostly centered around shipping times and delivery. However I had no problem with that.
John Olson says:
I tried your product in the past 90 days. I’m amazed at this stuff. Without exercising my muscles got bigger, I felt better and my sex life was great! I can imagine how I would look with a regular exercise regimen. By the way I’m 56
Mark says:
I have tried several different Test Boosters and Prime Male is the ONLY one I have seen results from. Although it’s on the high end of the price scale, it’s worth it to me.
I have two questions though…..is it recommended to take an Estrogen blocker with Prime Male? Also, many other Test Boosters recommend taking them in cycles, such as 4 to 6 weeks on and two weeks off. Is it recommended to do this with Prime Male?
Rob Wright says:
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the comment, that’s great that Prime Male has worked out for you so well.
Hope this helps!
Rob
Gary says:
Am after ordering prime male I hope it does what it says,, am using it for muscle gain in gym
Rob Wright says:
I hope so too Gary! Let us know how it goes and if it works out for you. Just out of interest, why did you choose Prime Male as a muscle building test booster? Is it because of your age (no offence, I am 40 and therefore in the Prime Male target market!) or the formula?
Cheers,
Rob
Gary says:
Am getting no results with anything else am 6foot 4 and 12 stone so hopefully I get more done in gym and more muscle gain, am trying to reach 13 stone and better
Rob Wright says:
Best of luck Gary,
Cheers,
Rob
Gary says:
Believe it or not after 3 weeks and lots of gym work am 13 stone already!!!! Can’t believe it!!!
Rob Wright says:
Haha, get in! Not even at the end of your first bottle. Well done, that’s a great start to 2017. Thanks for updating us Gary, next stop 14 stone 😉
Geoff says:
Thank you
Rob Wright says:
Hi Geoff,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I was offline all weekend.
It’s easy to look at the fact that you are an Aussie and disregard Vitamin D3 but a third of Australians are Vitamin D deficient. Depends on where you live and also sun screen can block up to 98% of the effects of the sun in relation to converting sunlight to D3 (http://www.deakin.edu.au/research/research-news/articles/vitamin-d-deficiency-strikes-one-third-of-australians ).
Did you buy any Prime Male in the end? If you did let us know how you got on. Good luck, let’s hope you can turn it around and get back to your best!
Cheers,
Rob
ripped god says:
Cellucor p6 extreme is good too. But i will try prime male do u recommed it mate? It build muscle?
Rob Wright says:
Good handle – wish I could describe myself as a ‘ripped God’!
Yes, the short answer is that I do recommend Prime Male. It’s a great product, it might be aimed at the low T market but you only have to read through some of the testimonials to see that it’s helped loads of those guys build muscle. If you try it remember to let us know how you got on here – it’s always interesting to hear personal comparisons between one product and another. So P6 Extreme vs Prime Male, you can decide the winner.
Cheers,
Rob
John says:
Rob Wright says:
Hi John,
Thanks for the question.
All the best,
Rob

Thanks!
Rob Wright says:
Rob
Susie says:
Thank you, Rob.
Being impulsive, i went ahead and did order, i figure he is worth it and if it doesn’t work, then we’ll figure something else out. I’m pretty darn sure he has low T (with all the symptoms he has) i just want him to feel better and more alive at 67!
I’ll keep you posted if you’re interested!
Rob Wright says:
Haha, good on you. Yes, definitely interested, please let us know how it went! Good luck to both of you.

How does prime male deal with prolactin
Rob Wright says:
Thanks for the question Willis. Two ingredients in Prime Male pop out as being useful for Prolactin.
Vitamin B6
Two good studies demonstrated that vitamin B6 is effective at reducing PRL. Ok, in both cases the dosages involved were larger than you’d get from the dosages present in PM, but the studies did demonstrate that it affects prolactin in a positive way;
1. Vitamin B6 Study 1
Delitala, G et al. Effect of pyridoxine on human hypophyseal trophic hormone release: a possible stimulation of hypothalamic dopaminergic pathway. The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. 2009; 42(3)

Zinc
A study showing that zinc supplementation also reduced PRL in both men and women. In this case the dosage is more in line with the dosage you’d get with PM, you wouldn’t really want to supplement zinc at 50mg for any length of time as in conjunction with the zinc you got in food it’d take you over the upper limits of normal tolerance levels. The Prime Male dosage is just right.

Sometimes things happen during the order and I don’t see any customer service phone number to contact and get answers , would you explain?
Rob Wright says:
Hi, you are saying you’ve had problems ordering on the site? Hmmm, it might be to do with your bank – you could try a different card or use the Paypal Express checkout, that’s what I would do.
I’ve put the fact there is no phone number in the ‘Negative’ section at the top of the review, I know some people like to call. They handle everything via an email ticket system. I’d say the same here as for any of the boosters we review. If you are having trouble ordering just email their customer support and they should be able to help you. All the supplement companies will help you place an order 😉
Thanks and good luck,
Rob

I am going to try Prime Male today. According to my email, the shipment is “Out for Delivery”. I am hoping that I do get the extra boost since I want to get back in my work out regimen. Currently, I easily get tired and just want to go to bed when I get home. Retired from the military after 26 years of service and now I am 52 years old … sex … yah, that has definitely slowed down … I need to gain energy, lose weight, feel sexier 🙂 and be motivated … hopefully Prime Male can help me get there.
Rob Wright says:
Good man Joe, looking back at my emails “Out for Delivery” basically means it’s about to be delivered so you should be rocking and rolling in no time (if you aren’t already).
Best luck with it, you’ve been in the military for 26 years so I’ve no doubt you’ll have the discipline and self-motivation to stick to your program and make it work for you. Good luck sir, let us know how you go.

Andrew says:
Hi, How long does it usually take to work and kick in?
Thanks
Website does not say.
Rob Wright says:
Hi Andrew,
I reckon they don’t say because it would differ form person to person.
Thanks,
Rob
Stan says:
Hello,
Do you guys have any info or feedback if Prime Male is hard on the stomach? Is this the reason why it should be taken with food?
Thank you,
Stan
Rob Wright says:
Sorry Stan, totally missed this comment when you posted it.
My understanding is that they’ve put that on the bottle because nutrients in general get absorbed better by the body when taken along with food. One vitamin that is better absorbed on an empty stomach is B12 but there isn’t any of that in Prime Male. Hit up their customer service and see what the official reply is though!

In addition here’s a link about fat soluble vitamins like D3 needing fat to help absorption.

Why cant u ship to South Africa? U can do great business here, hope u will resolve that issue.
Rob Wright says:
Hi Ipfi,
We don’t ship anything, it’s Prime Male customer services you want to speak to!

Kas Kazmi says:
I am finding the 4 times a day impractical and also with fact that required to have meal or snack with each dose.
Do we know if its ok to take two twice daily and possibly without food?
Would this be unsafe or indeed render the product ineffective?
Rob Wright says:
Hi Kas,
I’ll be honest, that’s what I do, I often take them in 2 doses of 2 and I know another guy in the office does that too.
Hope this helps,
Rob
Gigi says:
Can anyone say what is the provenience of Vitamin D3?
Rob Wright says:
Hi Gigi,
What do you mean – where they’ve got the D3 from? I’d say the same for you as I’d say for anyone, if you want to see proof that ingredients have been properly sourced by an accredited cGMP manufacturer then email Prime Male customer services. And if you email some other company and they won’t prove that then you know what to do!

Can I take Prime Male and Hydroxicut at the same time?
Thank you.
Rob Wright says:
Sorry for the delay in replying, my bad!
Thanks,
Rob
Bob Bush says:
If you want to try Prime Male and do not want to pay the $69/month, all you have to do is purchase each individual ingredient in the amount listed on their label at a discount Vitamin company like VitaCost. I worked it out to be around $45 a month. The downside is you have to take a lot more pills. That being said, I have been tested with low free T and a high SHBG. I am going to buy Prime Male anyway, try for 3 months. Get blood test again. If it works, I’ll try the above method to reduce costs. Cheers.
Rob Wright says:
Hi Bob,
Thanks for this – it’s interesting to know how much a ‘Build it yourself’ option is.
Best of luck,
Rob
Sam says:
Today I have ordered Prime Male (3 boxes). I am 35 years old, do light work out 5 days a week and normally avoid junk foods. My two biggest concerns are I can not grow full beard (it’s very patchy) and also not able to get lean muscles.
After doing many research, I thought of giving Prime Male a try to naturally boost my T level – which may fill my patchy beard and also help to build lean muscle. Let me know if this product can help me achieve these.
Sam says:
Hello Rob,
I have ordered Prime Male to build lean muscles and fill my patchy beard. I work out 5 days a week and normally avoid junk foods, I also have very patchy beard. I read testosterone is the prime factor which helps to build up muscles and and also grow facial hair. I am 35 and my T level is little low. Hope Prime Male will help me. Please let me know your opinion
Rob Wright says:
Hi Sam,
Sorry for the lack of reply yesterday, Xmas family stuff going on! First of all – build lean muscle is a definite yes. The product lists a load of ancillary benefits but the main one most guys are looking for, in conjunction with energy and libido, is muscle building. So if you are working out, have low test and are taking Prime Male then I would personally expect good results from your work in the gym.
The beard growth thing is less of a certainty. Propura themselves have definitely not listed it as a main benefit of enhanced testosterone, here’s the feature list for Prime Male and it is pretty wide ranging. Note … no mention of beards at all;
There’s not a single mention of improved beard growth in the massive testimonial page either.
Thanks, and a happy new year tomorrow,
Rob
SAM says:
Rob Wright says:
Best of luck with it Sam, happy new year, and have a fantastic 2018!!

Hi,
Nice read and very informative.
Rob Wright says:
Hi Wally,
No, you don’t have to be 35 or over for Prime Male at all. The ingredients will work on anybody with low t. That means women as well, the 35+ thing is more about the marketing than the formula imo 🙂
Second question: Fat loss. They’ve advertised that because if you have low T and then increase your T to healthy levels it will make it easier to lose fat. A couple of reasons;
There’s a good article on it here if you want to know more -> Can Testosterone Help Fat Loss.
Best of luck, hope this helps,
Rob
Captain Lars says:
Is this safe for active duty military members? As in not going to pop positive on a Urine Test
Rob Wright says:
Hi Captain Lars,
Good question – short answer … there is nothing to worry about in relation to a drugs test and Prime Male.
Hope this helps, good luck with everything sir.

William Russell says:
Hi Rob.
I have started Intermitent Fasting.
During fast period no calories are allowed,
Are there any in Prime Male pills , and do you think taking 2 without food is ok.
Also , is it ok to take along with VIG RX and a fat burner ?
Thank you
William
Rob Wright says:
Hi William,
Thanks for the comment, and sorry for the delay in replying – I took a few days off.
Hope this helps sir!
Best,
Rob
Alex says:
Hi Rob. I am 36 and do light workouts 3-5 times a week. Not looking to build a ton of muscle, just stay in shape, but man I’m always tired and sleep poorly. Im also fairly slim but feel some jiggle around the midsection when I run. Will this help you think?
Rob Wright says:
Hi Alex,
Thanks for the comment.
Lots of people use ZMA for sleep, and if you look at the ingredients Prime Male has the same levels of ZMA as a dedicated ZMA product. Zinc, Magnesium and B6. If you are comparing quantities there remember PM contains the Citrate variant rather than Sulphate or Aspartate. It’s much more bioavailable meaning your body absorbs much more of it and you need a lower amount for the same effect. So you wouldn’t need any more Magnesium, Zinc or B6 than it contains. Here’s a good article on bodybuilding.com about ZMA;
https://www.bodybuilding.com/content/the-benefits-of-zma-more-than-a-sleep-supplement.html
Hope this helps you, good luck!

Paul says:
Hi I take prime male for almost a year and been wondering t combine with tongkat ali, which tongkat ali product do you recommend to combine? Is it ok to do it? Thanks in advance
JB says:
Hi
i am not really wanting this for muscle gain ..mainly just to increase low test due to various medical history..
will this increase beard thickness and give me more body hair?
Rob Wright says:
Hi JB,
You are not alone, muscle gain is one of the aspects of increased testosterone but from what I see from the Prime Male testimonials section, muscle isn’t the number one motivator for purchasing.
Hope this helps,
Rob
